Education

Education

The core of BHQG’s mission is to bring quilters together to learn and preserve the art and skill of quilting.   We believe that learning should be fun and create fellowship among BHQG members and the community!  As a result, every year, BHQG provides a wide variety of educational programs for both Guild members and the community:

— The Guild holds meetings nine months each year.  At almost all monthly meetings, BHQG hosts an educational program led by local and national experts in quilting and other areas of interest to quilters;

— BHQG also offers technique classes taught by leading quilting experts;

— BHQG regularly hosts quilting retreats, including the annual Weekend Retreat and the Come-and-Go Retreat.

— BHQG has also taught quilting and supported groups at senior centers such as the Bykota Senior Center,

–BHQG regularly attends community events such as the Cromwell Valley Festival and the Maryland State Fair to provide live demonstrations of quilting and sewing techniques; and

–Finally, BHQG works with educators to help support fiber arts programs.
