Steen Hougs and Inge Mardal are a Danish couple residing in Chantilly, France. Their award-winning quilts cover a wide range of subjects. Their quilts begin with a length of white fabric upon which they paint their design. After sandwiching the quilt, Inge spends many hours free-motion machine quilting the piece, enhancing the design. This piece is entitled ”Loved and Was Loved” and won 1st place in the Art-Painted Surface category at the 2011 Quilts: A World of Beauty show in Houston, Texas.
