2009 Charity Project - House of Ruth
The recipients of the Charity Quilts for 2009-2010 are the women and children served by The House of Ruth, one of the nation’s leading domestic violence centers, helping thousands of battered women and their children find the safety and security that so many of us take for granted.
The House of Ruth has been providing services in Baltimore for nearly three decades and is always there for victims of domestic violence. BHQG hopes that the quilts and pillows we donate will bring these women and their children comfort of both body and spirit.
Requirements:
Quilt size – any size from 26” x 48” (crib quilt) up to 52” x 78” (lap robe) would be appropriate. Pillows and pillowcases are also acceptable. All colors and themes acceptable
Finished quilts would be appreciated but if you are unable to finish yours bring the top to a guild meeting and we’ll get it finished for you. If you would be willing to finish a quilt for someone else, please let Toni Killefer or Amanda Graham know.
2007-2008 Charity Project
The 2007-2008 charity project helped kids right in our own backyard. Recipients were the approximately 96 residents of Villa Maria Residential Center in Timonium. These children don't have many possessions, and a quilt of their own would mean so much. We gathered more than 125 quilts, enough for one for each child plus extras for new residents.
Hurricane Relief Quilts 2006
The Guild made quilts for Hurricane Relief. These were sent to Metairie, Louisiana.
Pictured here preparing the quilts for shipping are (L to R) Betty Racicot, Marsha Vogel, Amy Selmanoff, Gail Froeb, Kris Ricci, Joan Levin, and Rebecca Ludwig
